Satellitt-samtaler i iPhone 13 fungerer trolig ikke i Norge

Forrige uke meldte flere medier at iPhone 13 får satellitt-kommunikasjon og at denne funksjonaliteten skal gjøre det mulig å kommunisere med omverdenen selv om telefonen ikke har mobildekning.

Digital24 omtalte også ryktene, men vi var veldig tydelige på at vi ikke visste nok om funksjonaliteten til å kunne si at også nordmenn får tilgang.

Og trolig var det riktig å ta forbehold i denne saken, for nå melder Mark Gurman at satelitt-kommunikasjonen, som gjør det mulig å ringe og sende meldinger, kun vil fungere i utvalgte markeder. Funksjonen vil også være tilgjengelig kun på steder der mobildekningen er lik null.

Vil sende opp egne satellitter

Videre forteller Gurman, som ofte sitter på pålitelig informasjon om Apple-nyheter, at Apple planlegger å skyte opp sine egne satellitter i fremtiden (dette for å kunne tilby bedre satellittdekning) for brukerne. Men denne planen er fortsatt flere år unna å bli realisert, hevder Gurman.

Kun for nødstilfeller

Flere medier skrev at iPhone 13 blir en satellittmobil som kan foreta anrop og sende meldinger gratis via satellitter. Kanskje er det noe som kommmer i fremtiden, men i begynnelsen skal funksjonaliteten være begrenset til kun nødsamtaler.
